Katniss was quiet upon her initial entrance into the house, but by Week 3 she made waves which set the entire season in motion. Katniss won the Week 3 HOH competition and immediately set her sights on players she considered "popular girls," namely Cindy, Mya, Jazmine, and Eric. She almost immediately decided that she was going to take out Mya or Jazmine, first nominating Cindy and Mya then choosing Jazmine or Eric as the replacement nominee. She followed through, despite the risks of the move, and successfully evicted Jazmine. She then found herself distrusting her initial ride or die, Natasha, as a result of Jazmine's exit rant about a girls' alliance consisting of several other players. She ultimately escaped nomination by Brandon and then won the Week 4 HOH. She chose to take the opportunity to evict her ally, Natasha, as a result of the betrayal she presumed. Ultimately Natasha was evicted, and Cindy won the following HOH. Cindy set her sights on Katniss, who had now befriended Jack, Brandon, Kaitlyn, and Stella and hoped to gain the votes she needed to survive. Unfortunately, Kaitlyn was nominated alongside her, and Jack decided to lead his alliance in her favor rather than Katniss'. She was unfortunately not chosen to return to the house when Eric and Stella began campaigning for Cindy.
Katniss was immediately viewed as a high-tier target in the house, being evicted in the very first week after being nominated against her closest ally, Natasha, by Jose. She won re-entry into the game, however, and she used that and her week of immunity to work towards her survival alongside Natasha. She and Natasha initially worked closely with Mya, Misty, Dante, and Amanda in the flip against Dyna, Brennen, Mickey, and Logan, but following Brennen's and Dyna's evictions, the house emerged with two duos, Dante, Amanda, Logan, and Mickey all floating back and forth. Katniss found herself nominated yet again by Logan, but due to this forced floatation, she was able to successfully flip Mickey and Amanda in her favor, narrowly surviving the vote against Misty. She was then nominated by Dante the following week, but Natasha managed to win the power of veto and save herself. She then led Natasha in voting against Logan, which forced Dante to break the tie. He chose to evict Logan. Katniss and Natasha were then labelled the masterminds by Mya, which prompted Dante, Amanda, and Mickey to all agree with the rule. As the final duo in the house, they became the house targets. Amanda, after failing to throw the HOH to Mya, nominated her against Mickey, claiming she was a pawn. She then nominated Natasha post-veto against her, and despite Mickey's attempt to save her, Katniss was re-evicted by Mya and Dante.
Host Opinion
Katniss' moves scared me at first. I thought she was just asking for trouble when she first mentioned that she planned on nominating Cindy and Mya, and I thought she was even crazier for the Jaz backdoor plan. Ultimately, though, it seemed to work out, and I think she would've made it far had Cindy not won the HOH. Aside from Cindy, Katniss was in good social standing with most of the remainder of the house following her second HOH reign, and luck was unfortunately not on her side.
Katniss seems to thrive in chaos. Katniss was a big name in the house early on due to her coup on Jazmine, Eric, and Stella early in Season 5, as well as due to her label of "comp beast." Though unable to escape this title during her first run, She managed to escape eviction twice during the chaotic mid-jury phase, despite still holding these titles and still being on everyone's radar. Katniss' reputation ultimately caught up with her, however, and she was evicted in the final 6 as a result. Overall, she was a fantastic player, and unfortunately the house was aware of this as well.
